INDONESIA LEVERAGES BRICS TO ACCELERATE AGRICULTURAL MODERNIZATION
Indonesia is using its participation in the BRICS bloc to modernize its agriculture sector, boost productivity, and strengthen national food security. At the 2026 BRICS Agriculture Ministerial Meeting in India, Indonesia joined a joint declaration focused on improving global food security, supporting small farmers, and expanding technology-driven trade. Through this cooperation, Indonesia gains access to key platforms like the BRICS Agricultural Research Platform and AGRIN network, which can support high-yield seeds, advanced fertilizers, and plant genetic resources, as well as technologies such as AI, satellite crop monitoring, and improved logistics systems. The country is also pursuing bilateral cooperation with BRICS members like South Africa and India to expand market access and secure agricultural inputs, including seeds and digital farming partnerships. These international efforts align with Indonesia’s domestic push toward tech-based agriculture, including mechanization and innovation to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve farmer welfare. Overall, BRICS collaboration is seen as a strategic pathway to accelerate agricultural transformation and achieve long-term food self-sufficiency.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/419176/indonesia-leverages-brics-to-accelerate-agricultural-modernization?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=popular_right (ICE GIACARTA)
