UKRAINE’S INFLATION SLOWS TO 8.2% IN MAY

Ukraine’s annual inflation slowed to 8.2% in May 2026, down from previous levels, while consumer prices increased by 0.9% month-on-month, according to the State Statistics Service. The slowdown was largely driven by lower growth in raw food prices, supported by increased supplies of pork, poultry, eggs, and vegetables. However, underlying inflationary pressures remained strong as businesses continued to face higher costs for energy, wages, and logistics.Core inflation accelerated to 7.9% year-on-year, while services inflation rose to 13.6%, reflecting higher operating expenses across the economy. Fuel inflation also remained elevated at 38.7% year-on-year.The National Bank of Ukraine noted that overall inflation eased as expected due to seasonal factors, although persistent cost pressures continue to influence price dynamics and monetary policy decisions.https://bank.gov.ua/ua/news/all/komentar-natsionalnogo-banku-schodo-rivnya-inflyatsiyi-v-travni-2026-roku (ICE KIEV)
