NAVER CLOUD, NVIDIA TO UNVEIL PLANS FOR JOINT AI FACTORY INITIATIVE
Naver Cloud and Nvidia are set to unveil plans for a joint AI factory initiative during Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Korea this week, marking a major step forward in the companies’ efforts to build next-generation AI infrastructure throughout Asia. “Naver Cloud possesses robust full-stack capabilities spanning from AI infrastructure to services,” CEO of Naver Cloud Kim Yu-won said at the Nvidia Cloud Partners Summit in Taipei, Taiwan, on Tuesday. “That makes us a perfect partner for Nvidia’s AI factory platform strategy, which encompasses energy, chips, infrastructure, models and applications.” Naver Cloud is a subsidiary of Korea’s internet conglomerate Naver, focused on IT and cloud computing. The two companies’ AI factory initiative refers to building next-generation AI infrastructure that is designed to deploy large-scale AI models across industrial settings. Lee Hae-jin, the founder and board chair of Naver, is expected to unveil details of the collaboration during Huang’s visit. Naver Cloud is also working closely with Nvidia in physical AI. The company has been using Cosmos, Nvidia’s physical AI platform, to enhance its digital replica of Seoul. The model is based on Korean mapping data and has been trained on 1.2 million panoramic images collected throughout Seoul, enabling it to recreate the city’s actual road environments and spatial structures. “Our partnership with Nvidia goes beyond a simple GPU supplier-customer relationship,” Kim said. “Jointly developing AI technologies and expanding the global AI ecosystem are strategic decisions. In the future, we intend to establish ourselves as a key supplier, supporting explosive AI demand across Asia, and as a leading AI infrastructure hub.” Nvidia Vice President of Enterprise & Cloud Sales Raj Mirpuri emphasized the importance of an integrated ecosystem, as AI factories can only operate effectively when computing power, AI models, data, applications and cloud infrastructure are consolidated into a single ecosystem. He added that Nvidia’s partnership with Naver Cloud will help expand access to its AI platform, enabling customers in Asia and elsewhere to develop sovereign, industrial and enterprise AI solutions. Huang is expected to land in Korea on Thursday and hold a series of meetings with key figures in Korea’s technology industry, including NCSoft CEO Kim Taek-jin on Sunday to discuss potential cooperation in AI and gaming technologies.
