NATIONAL CAR PROJECT, INDONESIAN GOVT BUILDS 412 HA INDUSTRIAL AREA IN SUBANG
The Indonesian government is advancing its national car and motorcycle program as part of the National Priority Work Program (PKPN), with a 412-hectare industrial area planned in Subang, West Java. This initiative, outlined in the KEM‑PPKF 2027 document, aims to strengthen the independence of the domestic automotive industry, boost local content, and reduce reliance on imports. By focusing on efficient production scales and effective technology transfer, the government hopes to enhance competitiveness in both domestic and global markets while creating higher-quality jobs. The Subang site was chosen to optimize state assets and improve land-use efficiency for new industrial zones. Funding for the medium-term mobnas project will be supported by Danantara and private sector partners, with several ministries coordinating implementation. Meanwhile, the electricity-based national motorcycle program has already distributed 3,000 units nationwide by April 2026, marking the completion of phase one and nearing the end of phase two. Operated by PT LEN, this project validates domestic production capacity but remains at pilot scale, with challenges ahead in scaling up. The government expects the program to contribute to GDP growth, import substitution, local supply chain development, and technology transfer, ultimately reinforcing Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry.Source: https://katadata.co.id/berita/industri/6a279812572fd/proyek-mobil-nasional-pemerintah-bangun-kawasan-industri-412-ha-di-subang (ICE GIACARTA)
