INDONESIA AIMS AT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE IEU-CEPA TRADE AGREEMENT EARLY 2027
Indonesia Aims at the Implementation of the IEU-CEPA Trade Agreement in Early 2027Indonesia and the European Union are accelerating efforts to finalize the IEU-CEPA trade agreement, with ratification targeted for the second half of 2026 and implementation in early 2027. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic reaffirmed this commitment during a bilateral meeting at the Brussels Economic Security Forum. The agreement is expected to eliminate tariffs on about 98% of trade items, giving Indonesian exports wider access to the EU market under 0% tariff facilities, thereby boosting competitiveness and supporting national export growth. Beyond trade, discussions also touched on the EU Global Gateway program, which will support strategic projects including investment in Indonesia’s critical mineral sector. This cooperation aligns with Indonesia’s downstream natural resource strategy and the EU’s need for sustainable mineral supplies to drive its energy transition and green technology industries. Both sides view the completion of IEU-CEPA as a milestone that will strengthen economic ties, expand investment opportunities, and deepen mutually beneficial partnerships between Indonesia and the EU.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20260606/12/1978932/airlangga-bidik-implementasi-perjanjian-dagang-ieu-cepa-awal-2027#goog_rewarded (ICE GIACARTA)
