INDONESIA'S AVIATION MARKET PREDICTED TO TRIPLE BY 2045

Indonesia’s aviation market is projected to grow threefold by 2045, driven by rising passenger numbers, increased flight movements, and expanding fleet requirements, according to Indonesia's Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. Citing data from McKinsey & Company and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Minister noted that the global aircraft industry is on a positive trajectory, with the worldwide fleet expected to reach around 15,700 aircraft by 2024. Indonesia itself is forecast to become the world’s fourth-largest passenger aviation market by 2030, with ICAO projections showing domestic passengers reaching 7.4 million and total flight movements approaching 690 million by 2045, nearly triple current levels. To meet this growing demand, the government is emphasizing the need to strengthen Indonesia’s national aerospace industry so it can move beyond being merely a market and become an active player in the global supply chain. Agus highlighted that the domestic industry, led by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), already demonstrates capabilities in aircraft design and production, aerostructures, maintenance, and engineering services, with several products achieving high local content levels. The expansion of aviation demand is also boosting opportunities in aircraft components and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, where Indonesia currently hosts dozens of companies. However, challenges remain, including cost pressures and a decline in the number of aircraft in operation, which will need to be addressed to fully realize the sector’s long-term growth potential.Source: https://katadata.co.id/berita/industri/69faf707bf705/pasar-aviasi-indonesia-diprediksi-tumbuh-tiga-kali-lipat-hingga-2045 (ICE GIACARTA)
