BANGLADESH, EU TO SIGN PCA IN BRUSSELS MONDAY
Bangladesh and the European Union (EU) are scheduled to sign a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) on Monday in Brussels, marking a significant step in their bilateral relationship. The PCA will establish the legal and political foundation for long-term cooperation, enhancing collaboration in areas such as human rights, governance, trade, investment, environmental sustainability, and climate change. This agreement will notably make Bangladesh the first South Asian country to sign a PCA with the EU. The Foreign Minister and Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir will attend the signing ceremony, following a diplomatic forum in Turkey. The negotiations for the PCA began in November 2024, involving five rounds of discussions that finalized the agreement's text, focusing on key areas like legal cooperation, intellectual property rights, energy, and trade.
