INDONESIA TEXTILE INDUSTRY REMAINS STABLE AMID GLOBAL PRESSURE
Indonesia's Ministry of Industry affirmed that Indonesia’s textile and textile products (TPT) industry remains relatively stable despite global volatility affecting raw material prices and supply. The main pressure comes from rising energy-based raw materials, with domestic paraxylene prices increasing by around 40 percent and broader impacts felt along the production chain, including fabric prices, packaging components, and export adjustments. Even so, raw material supplies such as monoethylene glycol remain secure in the near term, domestic demand stays strong, and export opportunities persist amid shifting global market dynamics. The government highlighted the industry’s adaptability through improved inventory management, procurement strategies, and close coordination with suppliers. The use of domestically produced rayon was emphasized as a strategic alternative to petrochemical-based inputs, supporting industrial resilience and independence. To mitigate future risks, the Ministry is developing a real-time monitoring system and assessing policy options such as fiscal incentives, energy efficiency support, and trade policy adjustments. With synchronized policies across the industrial value chain, the government remains optimistic about the TPT industry’s continued growth and resilience in the short and medium term.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2353067/indonesia-textile-industry-remains-stable-amid-global-pressure (ICE GIACARTA)
