GREECE'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AT 8.5% IN FEBRUARY, ELSTAT SAYS
Greece's unemployment rate stood at 8.5% in February 2025, compared to a downwardly revised 9.2% in February 2025 and an upwardly revised 7.9% in January 2026.The number of unemployed people amounted to 410,506 people, a decrease of 26,664 people compared to February 2025 (6.1%) and an increase of 32,345 people compared to January 2026 (8.6%).The unemployment rate for women rose to 11.3% from 11.9% in February last year and for men to 6.2% from 7.1%.By age group, the unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group rose to 17.6% from 17.8% in February 2025 and in the 25-74 age group to 8% from 8.8%.According to the labor force survey by ELSTAT, the number of employed persons amounted to 4,412,218, recording an increase of 118,997 persons compared to February 2025 (2.8%) and an increase of 8,870 persons compared to January 2026 (0.2%).People under 75 years of age who are not included in the labor force - "people outside the labor force" who are neither working nor looking for work - amounted to a total of 2,906,805 people in February, marking a decrease of 121,794 people compared to February 2025 (4%) and a decrease of 45,511 people compared to January 2026 (1.5%).
