Kazakhstan’s oil and gas condensate output falls 20% in Q1 to 19.7 mln tonnes (Part 2)Crude oil and gas condensate output in Kazakhstan fell 20% in the first quarter of 2026 to 19.7 million tonnes from 24.6 million tonnes in the same period a year earlier, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov said Tuesday.“In the reporting period, oil and gas condensate production amounted to 19.7 million tonnes, or 80.2% of the level recorded in the same period last year,” Akkenzhenov said at a government meeting.According to presentation materials, output totaled 24.6 million tonnes in the first three months of 2025 and 19.7 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2026.Natural gas production also declined over the period, falling 15% year on year to 13.6 billion cubic meters from 16 billion cubic meters. The forecast for 2026 is 62.7 billion cubic meters, Akkenzhenov added.Petroleum product output in Kazakhstan declined 1.1% in the first quarter of this year to 3.67 million tonnes, with the 2026 forecast set at 15.49 million tonnes.Production of petrochemical products dropped 13.9% in the reporting period to 134,000 tonnes, with a 2026 forecast of 580,000 tonnes."The ministry is working together with KazMunayGas and KPI (Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc.) to increase polypropylene production to 450,000 tonnes this year," Akkenzhenov said.He added that the decline in oil and gas sector indicators is linked to the situation at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium and Tengiz.
