ADB LAUNCHES NEW COUNTRY PARTNERSHIP STRATEGY FOR PAKISTAN

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) today launched a new country partnership strategy  for Pakistan, 2026–2030, setting out a roadmap to support the country’s transition to sustainable and inclusive growth through private sector-led development.   ADB will adopt multiple approaches to strengthen Pakistan’s resilience to climate change and natural hazards.ADB’s support will expand and strengthen water resource management infrastructure and capacity, modernize distribution networks, promote water-saving technologies, and build resilience in urban and rural communities. Key areas of engagement will include (i) developing integrated and climate-resilient water infrastructure and institutions to address the impacts of climate change, including glacier melt; and (ii) adopting programmatic approaches to river basin management.ADB will assist Pakistan in modernizing its agricultural value chains and make the agricultural ecosystem more resilient, inclusive, and market responsive. Introducing modern infrastructure such as cold chains, solar-powered storage units, and precision irrigation systems can dramatically reduce post-harvest losses and improve product quality. To help Pakistan achieve its objectives, ADB will draw from its experience with food parks and agri-hubs in other countries which offer good examples of how centralized facilities can support farmers and SMEs with logistics, compliance, and market access. ADB will use a full range of lending instruments to reinforce the impact of its assistance on air quality and apply good practices and lessons from its operations in other client countries. Through innovative financing mechanisms, including carbon markets and catalytic funding,  (ICE ISLAMABAD)
