British Petroleum plans return to Kazakhstan with exploration project - foreign ministerBritish Petroleum plans to re-enter the Kazakh market with an exploration project, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev said.“British Petroleum previously left Kazakhstan, as you know. It has now expressed its intention to return with a specific exploration project. This is very important for us,” Kosherbayev said in the Majilis, the lower house of parliament, on Wednesday.During the meeting, he presented to lawmakers a draft law on the ratification of an agreement on strategic partnership and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.According to Kosherbayev, the agreement “opens up additional opportunities” to expand cooperation with the United Kingdom in the oil and gas sector.British Petroleum exited Kazakhstan in 2009.
