12 ARAB AND FOREIGN COMPANIES APPLY TO INVEST IN SYRIAN CEMENT PLANTS
Mahmoud Fadila, Director of the General Company for Cement and Building Materials Industry and Marketing (OMRAN), said that 12 Arab and foreign companies have applied to invest in the Al-Muslimiyah cement plant in Aleppo and the Adra cement plant in the Damascus countryside. Fadila articulated that the evaluation of the applicant companies is being conducted according to precise technical and financial criteria to select the most efficient, which will contribute to supporting the cement sector in Syria, especially in light of the anticipated reconstruction phase. He noted progress in rehabilitation work on the mills at the Tartous Cement Plant, carried out by the UAE-based QBZ Group, alongside ongoing work to rehabilitate, develop, and operate the third production line at the Hama Cement Plant by Iraq’s Vertex Group, with the aim of increasing production capacity. Fadila stressed that offering the cement plants for investment is part of a broader plan to strengthen industrial infrastructure and improve production efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental protection standards. The OMRAN Company had previously announced the signing of agreements with a number of regional companies to rehabilitate and invest in its factories, in addition to training and qualifying its staff in various technical aspects, and enabling them to deal with modern technologies in the cement industry.
