TENDER LAUNCHED FOR AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS AT NEW KASTELLI AIRPORT

A major international tender has been officially launched for the procurement and installation of air navigation systems at the new International Airport of Heraklion in Kastelli, Crete. The project, with a budget of approximately €75 million, is a critical step towards the airport's operational readiness. The tender, initiated by the "International Airport of Heraklion Crete" (IAHC), covers the supply, installation, and commissioning of essential aeronautical infrastructure. This includes communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, as well as meteorological equipment and control tower technology. The contract stipulates a strict timeline of 27.5 months for completion, aligning with the broader schedule to open the airport by 2028. This investment is considered a key prerequisite for ensuring the safety and certification of the new hub, which is set to replace the existing "Nikos Kazantzakis" airport. (ICE ATENE)
