INDONESIA TO BUILD INTEGRATED POULTRY FARMS TO SUPPORT MBG PROGRAM
The Indonesian government has unveiled a plan to invest IDR20 trillion (US$1.2 billion) in the development of integrated broiler and layer poultry farms across the country. This initiative, announced by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman after meeting with Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani—who also heads the sovereign wealth fund Danantara—is designed to support the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and strengthen national food security. The farms will be strategically located in regions experiencing shortages of chicken meat and eggs, with funding from Danantara aimed at boosting animal protein supply and improving children's nutrition. The project is expected to begin in January 2026, following the completion of planning and pre-feasibility studies. Minister Sulaiman emphasized that the integrated livestock system will significantly increase chicken and egg production, helping to stabilize market prices and reduce supply gaps. He expressed confidence that this effort will contribute to Indonesia’s long-term goal of achieving self-sufficiency in livestock-based food production. The Rp20 trillion investment is seen as a cornerstone for sustainable food resilience and a major step toward ensuring consistent access to nutritious animal protein nationwide.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/390681/indonesia-to-build-integrated-poultry-farms-to-support-mbg-program (ICE GIACARTA)
