JORDAN FACES ITS WORST OLIVE SEASON IN TWO DECADES AMID OIL SHORTAGE CONCERNS
Jordan’s olive sector is experiencing its most challenging season in more than 20 years, with a sharp decline in production and a significant rise in prices. The situation poses a serious threat to the availability of olive oil for consumers and underscores growing food security concerns amid the impacts of climate change. Mahmoud Al-Omari, spokesperson for the Syndicate of Olive Press Owners and Producers, told Al-Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net that preliminary estimates indicate Jordan’s olive oil production for the 2025 season will not exceed 18,000 to 20,000 tons, compared to the typical annual average of 25,000 to 40,000 tons (ICE AMMAN)
