INDONESIA TO END DIESEL IMPORTS BY 2026, MINISTER CONFIRMS

Indonesia is set to achieve a major milestone in energy independence by early 2026, as it prepares to end diesel fuel imports. Indonesiaàs Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia informed President Prabowo Subianto that this shift will be enabled by the launch of the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) on November 10, which will significantly increase domestic diesel production. Alongside this, the government is advancing its biofuel strategy through the B50 biodiesel program, blending diesel with 50% vegetable oil. The combined impact of the RDMP and B50 initiatives is expected to generate a surplus of diesel, potentially allowing for future exports. The B50 program is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, with trials currently underway and presidential directives pushing for accelerated implementation. Indonesia, which currently imports around 4.9 to 5 million tons of diesel annually, anticipates that domestic production—bolstered by bioethanol—will soon be sufficient to meet national demand.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/389665/indonesia-to-end-diesel-imports-by-2026-minister-confirms (ICE GIACARTA)
