MICHELIN-STAR CHEFS, PREMIUM PAVILION RETURN TO HONG KONG WINE AND DINE FESTIVAL
Michelin-star chefs, premium pavilion return to Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival The annual Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival in late October will see the return of a designated area for premium wine and a pop-up restaurant with Michelin-star chefs for the first time in seven years. This year’s event, organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, will also be extended by an hour to midnight for the first time. “We have made the unprecedented move of extending the event hours, enabling visitors to have more fun,” board chairman Peter Lam Kin-ngok said on Monday. The festival will be held from October 23 to 26 at the Central Harbourfront, opening at 7.30pm on the first day and noon on the following days. Key highlights for the event include the Grand Wine Pavilion, a designated area for premium wine, and the Tasting Room, a pop-up restaurant featuring five renowned chefs. Such arrangements at the event were last seen in 2018. The premium wine pavilion was the result of a government delegation visit to Bordeaux, France, in July, when industry leaders in the region agreed to attend this year’s festival, Lam said. Products of five top winemakers from Bordeaux could be tasted there, he added. At the Tasting Room restaurant, diners can enjoy dishes made by Michelin-star Chinese cuisine chefs and celebrity chef Jung Ji-sun, who was featured in South Korean food reality show Culinary Class Wars. A new area will also be designated to feature 12 renowned local restaurants, including seven Michelin-star ones. This year’s event will feature 305 booths with products from 31 regions and countries. New national pavilions will be set up for eight countries including the United States, Italy and the Czech Republic, alongside existing ones for France, the United Kingdom, Spain, China and Japan. Tickets will be available online from Thursday via travel platforms Klook and Trip.com. The most expensive package is priced at HK$598 (US$77) and includes a general admission ticket, access to the Grand Wine Pavilion, a wine glass and 16 tokens that can be used to redeem dishes and wines. A HK$100 discount will be applied to the package if the booking is made on or before October 22. Another package, which includes general admission, eight tokens and a glass, is priced at HK$298, and an early-bird discount of HK$30 will be applied to those booked on or before October 22. Admission tickets could also be bought on-site at HK$40 for adults. The board expects around 150,000 guests, a number comparable with last year’s event, which was a day longer. Last year, the five-day event at the same venue attracted 155,000 visitors. https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/hong-kong-economy/article/3327256/michelin-chefs-premium-pavilion-return-hong-kong-wine-and-dine-festival (ICE HONG KONG)
