Tokayev names mineral resources as foundation of Kazakhstan's energy strategyThe rational development and use of oil, gas, uranium, coal, and rare earth metals remains a key element of Kazakhstan's energy strategy, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said."It should be noted that the development and efficient use of oil, gas, uranium, coal, and rare earth minerals remains the foundation of Kazakhstan's energy strategy," Tokayev said at the XII summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).He emphasized that energy is the "backbone of the economy" and an important element of the organization's strategic partnership. Tokayev reminded that the member states are implementing common infrastructure projects and forming energy resource transportation routes."A great example of fruitful cooperation in this area is the 'Green Energy Corridor' project being implemented by Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan. We believe a special emphasis should be placed on renewable energy sources, primarily solar energy. In this regard, I propose to establish a Council of Best Practices in Energy Efficiency under the Organization of Turkic States," Tokayev suggested. (ICE ALMATY)
