INDONESIA'S MANDALIKA MOTOGP DRAWS RECORD CROWD, US$289M ECONOMIC BOOST
The 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, held at the Mandalika International Circuit from October 3–5, attracted 140,324 spectators, marking a 15.7% increase from the previous year and the highest attendance since the event's debut in 2022. According to Maya Watono, president director of InJourney, the state-owned tourism holding company, this year’s race stood out for its exceptional service quality, infrastructure readiness, and strong local community involvement. Hotel occupancy in Mandalika hit 100%, supported by additional flights to accommodate the surge in visitors, while Lombok Island overall saw 93% occupancy, with Mataram City at 90%. The event also significantly benefited local businesses. The number of permitted vendors inside the circuit nearly doubled compared to last year, boosting opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Lombok International Airport operated 44 extra flights to handle the influx of travelers. The Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) provincial government estimated a total economic turnover of IDR 4.8 trillion (US$289 million) during the race weekend, encompassing accommodation, transportation, culinary services, and creative local products.Source: https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2025/10/06/mandalika-motogp-draws-record-crowd-289m-economic-boost.html (ICE GIACARTA)
