EAST KALIMANTAN PROVINCE SEEKS INVESTMENT IN RENEWABLE POWER PLANTS

The East Kalimantan Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Service is actively coordinating with stakeholders to boost investment in renewable energy (NRE) power generation, aiming to enhance both productivity and sustainability. The initiative, which builds on discussions from the Regional Consultation Forum (FKD), focuses on expanding electricity and gas production from clean energy sources, particularly solar, hydropower, and biomethane. Currently, the provincial government is prioritizing solar power and biogas development, with plans underway for hydropower projects in Mahakam Ulu and Kutai Kartanegara. Solar energy is seen as the most feasible option for large-scale deployment, offering dual benefits: electrifying remote areas and increasing the region’s clean energy share. To date, solar power plants have successfully delivered electricity to 72 remote villages across four districts, marking a significant step toward East Kalimantan’s sustainable energy future.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/383989/east-kalimantan-seeks-investment-in-renewable-power-plants (ICE GIACARTA)
