PESA COMPANY’S IDEAS FOR HIGH-SPEED TRAINS FOR CPK

After the first reading, the Lower Chamber of the Polish Parliament (the Sejm) referred President Karol Nawrocki's draft bill on investments carried out by the Central Transportation Port (CPK) company, to parliamentary committees for further work. It differs significantly from the current government's and CPK plan. The presidential bill envisages trains travelling on the planned high-speed tracks at a maximum speed of 250 km/h, while the government and CPK want to allow several types of trains on the new lines - up to 200 km/h, up to 250 km/h and 300-350 km/h. Preparations are underway for the construction of high-speed rail infrastructure (KDP), which will connect Warsaw with Łódź, Poznań and Wrocław in 2032-2035. If the president wins, the Bydgoszcz-based company PESA will manufacture trains running at 250 km/h, if the government wins, it will build faster ones with a partner, not necessarily Talgo. It also hopes to sell regional trains and locomotives to the military. (ICE VARSAVIA)
