1900 TANZANIAN YOUTH TRAINED BY ZURICH FOUNDATION TO TURN IDEAS INTO BUSINESSES

Over 1,900 young people from 21 regions across Tanzania have received intensive entrepreneurship training aimed at transforming their innovative ideas into sustainable businesses. The programme, led by JA Africa in collaboration with the Z Zurich Foundation through the Social Equity Programme (SEP), equips participants with entrepreneurship, leadership, and digital skills through boot camps, mentoring, and online modules. Since its launch, SEP has reached 19,500 students in regions including Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Kigoma, Mbeya, and Zanzibar. Central to the initiative is the Junior Achievement Digital Entrepreneurship Platform (JA DEEP), which trains students in areas such as idea creation, marketing, financial literacy, and product development. To date, over 15,200 students have completed digital training and launched1, 600 Social Impact Projects (SIPs) that address community challenges.  The initiative, implemented by E3Empower Africa in partnership with NACT-VET colleges and NGOs, also provides routers and data packages to participants in remote areas, ensuring inclusivity. The top ten SIP projects will compete for national recognition and cash prizes, with winners advancing to the African Private Youth Challenge (AYC) in 2027. Education leaders praised the programme for inspiring creativity among youth, while participants like Elia Lukenzo described the experience as “life-changing,” citing skills gained in business, financial literacy, and teamwork.
