INDONESIA PREPARES INCENTIVES TO BOOST MEDICAL DEVICE INDUSTRY

Indonesia is rolling out a comprehensive set of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to accelerate the growth of its domestic medical device industry, including super tax deductions for R&D and vocational programs, streamlined licensing, and improved access to financing. The Industry Ministry is also prioritizing global competitiveness by supporting local producers in meeting international standards such as ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and US FDA requirements. These efforts are embedded in the revised National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN), which outlines a phased strategy for sectoral development through 2045. The roadmap is structured into three phases: 2025–2029 will focus on strengthening the industrial base through production expansion, import substitution, and medium-tech development; 2030–2034 will emphasize competitiveness via high-tech innovation, automation, and global market integration; and 2035–2045 aims for full self-sufficiency with an export-oriented, innovation-driven ecosystem. Additional measures include supply chain enhancement, vocational training, certification, and targeted incentives to ensure industry resilience and readiness. The government envisions a sustainable and adaptive medical device sector capable of meeting national healthcare demands, particularly in strategic areas.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/378713/indonesia-prepares-incentives-to-boost-medical-device-industry?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
