DEPUTY ITALIAN MINISTER OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORT & ITALIAN CIVIL AVIATION Authority lead trade delegation to Benghazi – six agreements signed

Italy’s Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, and the head of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC), Pierluigi Di Palma, led an Italian air transport trade delegation to Benghazi last Thursday (4 September).Six technical agreements signedENAC reported that the Italian delegation was welcomed by a large Libyan team including representatives of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund and the management of Benghazi’s Benina Airport Authority. At the end of the meeting between the two sides, six technical agreements were signed aimed at the development of Benina airport and strengthening the aeronautical sector and the Italy Libya business synergy.ENAC reported that during the meeting Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Rixi underlined the centrality of air transport in strengthening bilateral relations between Italy and Libya.ENAC head Di Palma, meanwhile, reiterated ENAC’s commitment to civil aviation that unites different cultures and strengthens exchanges, adding that “The agreements signed today promote dialogue and the development of commercial activities with a country linked to Italy by a history of friendship and cooperation”.ENAC said the agreements were a milestone following the reopening, at the beginning of the year, of direct ITA Airways and Medsky Airways flights between the two countries.Besides the two top ENAC heads, the Ambassador of Italy in Libya, Gianluca Alberini, the Consul General of Italy in Benghazi, Francesco Saverio De Luigi, and the Commercial Attache at the Embassy, Fabio Giudice – the Italian trade delegation consisted of:Tiziana Bufacchi of AvioitalianaAlessandro Giulivi of ElitalianaFrancesco Presicce of ITA AirwaysIgnazio Coraci CEO ASC HandlingGiovanni Lettieri President and CEO of AtitechPaolo Merlo President Merlo S.p.A.Paolo Pascale CEO of TecnamFrancesco Sferra of TecnamNicola Colicchi the President of the Italian Libyan Chamber of Commerce (ICE TRIPOLI)
