Kazakhstan targets 12 mln cattle, double meat exports by 2030 – agriculture ministry Kazakhstan plans to increase its cattle population to 12 million head and double meat exports by 2030, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov said.“The planned instruments for industry development will allow us to increase the cattle population to 12 million head and small ruminants to 30 million by 2030, saturate the domestic market and double meat exports,” Saparov told a government meeting. He said a separate comprehensive plan will be drafted for sustainable livestock development. Currently, the industry only receives preferential loans to finance working capital to support the operation of feedlots. This measure is very limited and does not fully meet the needs of the agricultural producers, according to the minister. The new agricultural program includes preferential loans at 5%, long-term financing for breeding stock, and guarantees of up to 80% from the Damu Fund.In addition, social measures are planned for livestock workers’ families, including access to free education and social packages.According to Agriculture Ministry data, since the beginning of this year the cattle population in the republic has increased by 23.4% to 9.6 million head, while small ruminants grew by 7.8% to 26.3 million head. In 2024, Kazakhstan increased beef exports to 22,000 tonnes and mutton exports to 18,000 tonnes. (ICE ALMATY)
