VIỆT NAM EXPORTS ADDITIONAL 340,000 DOSES OF ASF VACCINE TO PHILIPPINES
HÀ NỘI — AVAC Việt Nam JSC has exported a second shipment of its African swine fever (ASF) vaccine, AVAC ASF LIVE, comprising 340,000 doses to the Philippines. This follows an earlier batch of 460,000 doses, which Philippine authorities found safe and effective, reinforcing confidence in the product. The vaccine is still under registration and strict monitoring in the Philippines, with broader rollout dependent on national approval. AVAC has supplied over four million doses domestically, earning positive feedback from large livestock farms, and currently holds 1.5 million doses in stock. Beyond the Philippines, the company is pursuing registration in Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, India, Nepal, and Myanmar, as well as several African markets. Việt Nam recently detected a hybrid ASF strain combining Type 1 and Type 2. While the current vaccine effectively protects against Type 2, it is less effective against the new variant. AVAC is developing an updated vaccine, expected to be ready for registration in 2026. To better serve smaller farms, the firm plans to introduce five-dose vials in September 2025 to reduce costs and waste. Experts highlighted the export milestone as proof of the vaccine’s scientific value, economic benefit, and international recognition in combating ASF. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
