TRACKING STATE FOOD CHEMICAL REGULATION IN THE U.S.
The Food and Drug Administration has repeatedly chosen to err on the side of non-regulation when it comes to banning potentially harmful food ingredients. The vast majority of controversial chemicals in the U.S. food supply haven’t been reviewed for safety in decades. The FDA’s most recent list of chemicals “under review” includes only three of the 13 chemicals targeted by recent state bills: potassium bromate, propyl paraben and titanium dioxide. State laws lead the charge against these chemicals, and they vary greatly. View the linked article to access an interactive list of relevant state laws.
