INDONESIAN SHRIMP EXPOSED TO RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Says Exports Not Disrupted
Indonesia's Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, stated that shrimp exports haven't been affected by a recent case of radioactive Cesium-137 (Cs-137) contamination. During a parliamentary meeting, Trenggono explained that four containers of shrimp from PT Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods) were exposed to the radioactive material through airborne contamination. The source was a steel slab being melted at a nearby steel factory in Cikande, Banten. The minister clarified that the contamination wasn't from the shrimp farms themselves, which were located in Pandeglang and Lampung, and had tested clean.Source: https://money.kompas.com/read/2025/09/03/221100626/ada-udang-ri-terpapar-radioaktif-kkp-sebut-ekspor-tak-terganggu?page=2.
