INDONESIAN FOOTWEAR EXPORTS PROJECTED TO GROW 10% AFTER US TARIFFS TAKE EFFECT

The Indonesian Footwear Association (Aprisindo) is aiming for a 10% increase in national footwear exports by the end of 2025, with the United States and European Union remaining key markets. Aprisindo Chairman Eddy Widjanarko highlighted the US market’s stable growth, which currently holds a 25–26% share of Indonesia’s footwear exports, while the EU accounts for 27%. From January to July 2025, exports to the US reached US$1.57 billion, marking a 22.65% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth is partly driven by favorable trade conditions ahead of new US tariffs and the anticipated finalization of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) in September. Despite strong performance, Aprisindo has yet to release updated data on specific European destinations for Indonesian footwear. Last year, total exports to the EU reached US$1.72 billion. Eddy remains confident that the 10% growth target is achievable, noting that year-to-date exports have already risen by 8%. He emphasized the strategic importance of both the US and EU markets, citing their consistent demand and the potential for further expansion under improved trade agreements and tariff adjustments.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20250902/257/1907972/ekspor-alas-kaki-ri-diproyeksi-tumbuh-10-usai-tarif-trump-berlaku  (ICE GIACARTA)
