KAZAKHSTAN-FUEL-EXPORT-BAN
Kazakhstan extends ban on fuel exports through mid-2026The Kazakh government announced Thursday it will extend a ban on the export of key petroleum products for another six months, starting in January 2026, to ensure a stable supply on the domestic market. The decision, made by the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy, prolongs restrictions on the export of light distillates, jet fuel, diesel, gasoil, toluene, xylene, and petroleum bitumen outside the Eurasian Economic Union's customs territory. The commission also extended a separate ban on the export of gasoline, diesel, and other oil products by road and rail transport. The measures are intended to prevent a fuel shortage within the country and guarantee uninterrupted supply for the domestic market.Kazakhstan first instituted the ban on exports of gasoline and oil products via road and rail in January 2021. The measure has been routinely extended every six months, most recently on May 19, 2025. (ICE ALMATY)
