FINANCE MINISTER SRI MULYANI ENSURES NO NEW TAX INCREASES IN 2026

Finance Minister announced that Indonesia will not raise tax rates or introduce new taxes in 2026, despite a projected state revenue increase of 9.8%, targeting Rp3,147.7 trillion. She clarified a misconception that increasing revenue automatically means higher taxes, emphasizing that the tax rates remain unchanged. The government's strategy for achieving this revenue growth centers on improving taxpayer compliance and enhancing the tax administration system. Furthermore, the government is committed to protecting vulnerable groups and maintaining public purchasing power. For example, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with an annual turnover up to Rp500 million remain exempt from income tax, while those with higher turnovers are subject to a significantly lower final income tax rate of 0.5%. Tax incentives also continue for priority sectors like education and health, as well as for individuals earning less than Rp60 million annually. This approach, which Sri Mulyani described as a form of "mutual cooperation," aims to secure state revenue while still providing vital support to the public.Source: https://en.tempo.co/read/2045569/finance-minister-sri-mulyani-ensures-no-new-tax-increases-in-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
