KAZAKHSTAN-MEAT-PRICES

Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry denies meat shortage, blames price hike on export boomKazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry denied a domestic meat shortage Tuesday, attributing recent price increases to high export demand from neighboring markets.Deputy Minister Azat Sultanov told reporters that meat exports have doubled compared to last year, creating upward pressure on local prices.Sultanov stated that current prices are stable and the country maintains meat reserves of approximately 50,000 tonnes, sufficient to supply the population for several months. He characterized the situation as price pressure from importers rather than a product shortage. The ministry reported earlier this year that Kazakhstan significantly increased its meat exports in 2024, with beef exports growing 40% to 22,000 tonnes and mutton exports surging 120% to 18,000 tonnes.
