BAGHDAD LAUNCHES FIVE ADVANCED MEDICAL PROJECTS

Iraq's Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khalid Battal Al-Najm, has inaugurated five advanced medical projects at the Baghdad factory of Samarra Pharmaceutical Company.The initiative aims to enhance the production of vital medical supplies while encouraging private sector participation in the healthcare industry.Minister Al-Najm highlighted that the Baghdad factory produces a variety of medical products in partnership with the private sector, marking a milestone after overcoming previous challenges. He announced plans to open additional pharmaceutical facilities in Samarra next month, constructed by ministry-owned companies under Ministry of Health standards, reinforcing the regional and local standing of Samarra Pharmaceutical Company.The newly launched projects include:Plastic medical supplies production with an annual capacity of 7.5 million units, producing oxygen masks, nebuliser masks, nasal oxygen tubes, anaesthesia tubing, urine bags, Foley catheters, and suction tubes.Textile medical supplies production with an annual output of 1-12 million items, including doctors' and patients' clothing, medical sheets, surgical packs, and other single-use materials.Medical gases production with a daily capacity of 5,000 litres, following the refurbishment and upgrade of the existing line.Surgical threads production with an annual capacity of 14.4 million units, the first of its kind in Iraq, producing various threads and surgical meshes to reduce import reliance.Sterile medical supplies production with an annual output of 25 million units, including IV cannulas, spinal anaesthesia needles, gastric and feeding tubes, wound drainage sets, and umbilical cord clamps.
