Construction of 150 MW Khromtau Wind Farm in Aktobe region completedEurasian Resources Group (ERG) has completed the installation of all 24 turbines at the 150-megawatt Khromtau wind farm in the Aktobe region (western Kazakhstan), the corporation's press service reported."The project was implemented by ERG Capital Projects with financial support from the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. Investments in the construction amounted to over 74 billion tenge," the statement said.The wind farm was built on a site next to the Donskoy Mining and Processing Plant of TNC Kazkhrom, which is part of ERG, and will become part of the group's energy division."In December 2024, the first two units began supplying electricity. The first million kilowatt-hours were produced on January 1, 2025, and now the installation of all turbines has been completed," the press release says.With an installed capacity of 150 megawatts, the Khromtau Wind Farm will generate over 500 million kilowatt-hours of green energy annually. The Khromtau Wind Farm will allow avoiding the emission of up to 440,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide and save over 300,000 tonnes of coal annually, ERG notes.As previously reported, the wind farm was planned to be completed by the end of 2025.ERG, created in 2014 on the basis of assets from the Eurasian National Resources Corporation (ENRC), is registered in Luxembourg. The company combines ferroalloy, iron ore, aluminum, coal, and power generation enterprises in Kazakhstan, controls copper and cobalt assets in Africa and is implementing an iron ore mining project in Brazil.ERG's production assets in Kazakhstan include "TNC azkhrom", "Aluminum of Kazakhstan", SSGPO, the Kazakhstan Electrolysis Plant, "Eurasian Energy Corporation", the coal mining company "Shubarkol Komir", and the transport group "TransCom".
