CROATIA:CROATIA’S INFLATION REACHES 4.1% IN JULY, RISES FOR 3RD MONTH TO HIGHEST in Euro Area
According to the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) first estimate released on 1 August, Croatia’s inflation rate measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 4.1% in July 2025, marking the third consecutive month of acceleration, mainly due to food, beverage, tobacco, and service prices. Meanwhile, preliminary data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), showed that Croatia, together with Slovakia, recorded the highest inflation in the euro area in July 2025 at 4.5%, compared to the euro area average of 2%.The DZS data showed that in July 2025 the inflation rate amounted to 4.1% compared to July 2024, while compared to the previous month, that is June 2025, it was on average higher by 0.4%.Thus, after standing at 4% in January, 3.7% in February, and 3.2% in both March and April, inflation began accelerating its annual growth, amounting to 3.5% in May, 3.7% in June, and the acceleration continued in July.According to the main components of the index, the estimated annual inflation rate for the group that includes food, beverages, and tobacco was 6.6%, for services 5.7%, for energy 2.3%, and for industrial non-food products excluding energy 0.4%.The DZS data also showed that on a monthly basis, compared to June 2025, the prices of food, beverages, and tobacco increased on average by 1.6%, energy by 1.3%, and services by 1.1%, while the prices of industrial non-food products excluding energy decreased on average by 2.4%.Meanwhile, according to the first estimate published on 1 August by Eurostat, the annual inflation rate in July, measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), amounted to 4.5% in Croatia, the same as in Slovakia, which means that these two countries had the highest inflation in the euro area.In the entire euro area, the average annual inflation rate in July amounted to 2%. After Croatia and Slovakia, the highest inflation, of 3.9%, was recorded in Latvia, followed by Greece with 3.7%, Austria with 3.6%, etc. (ICE ZAGABRIA)
