Kazakhstani components to be used in Chery car assembly at Almaty plantThe Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan has reached an agreement with Chery International on the use of Kazakhstani components in the production of Chery vehicles at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan (AMMKZ) plant, the ministry's press service reported.This agreement was reached during a working meeting between the Minister of Industry, Yersaiyn Nagaspayev, Chery brand CEO and Vice President of Chery International, Shaodong Zhu, and Astana Motors CEO, Beknur Nesipbayev. The meeting discussed industrial cooperation in mechanical engineering between Kazakhstan and China.It was noted that Kazakhstan has already implemented projects for the production of batteries, tires, multimedia systems, and seats. Work is also underway on new production facilities for auto parts and components.Chery has been represented in Kazakhstan since November 2021 through a distributor agreement with Astana Motors. In 2025, the AMMKZ plant will begin production of Chery vehicles using the CKD (Complete Knock Down) method, including body welding and painting.Astana Motors was established in 1992. Its founder is businessman Nurlan Smagulov.Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan (AMMKZ) is a multi-brand SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) assembly plant in Almaty. Construction began in the fall of 2022. It plans to produce Changan, Chery, and Haval passenger vehicles. (ICE ALMATY)
