Kazakhstan to double passenger aircraft fleet by 2030Kazakhstan plans to add 103 new passenger aircraft to its commercial fleet by 2030, a move that will double the size of its current operational fleet, the government press service announced Friday.The current national fleet stands at 104 aircraft, which already includes seven new jets delivered in the first half of 2025 - six Airbus A320neo and one Boeing 737 MAX 8 models, according to the government statement.The Ministry of Transport reported that 36 new international routes have been established in 2025, with eight foreign airlines entering the Kazakh market. Domestic connectivity remains robust with 61 routes operating 850 weekly flights across the country.To ensure regional accessibility, the government maintains 21 subsidized air routes across nine regions, with 6.4 billion tenge allocated for these socially important connections in 2025. Particular focus has been placed on enhancing service to key tourist destinations including Alakol resort areas (Usharal and Urzhar), Burabay resort (Kokshetau), and the historic city of Turkistan.National flag carrier Air Astana continues its own expansion plans, expecting to grow its fleet from the current 61 aircraft to 63 by year's end, with further expansion to 84 aircraft projected by the end of 2029.
