CIRCULAR FASHION DAY TO TAKE PLACE AT MONTREAL FASHION WEEK
The fashion industry is one of the most resource-intensive in the world, contributing to climate change, pollution, and waste. In Canada alone, over 500,000 tonnes of textiles end up in landfill every year. That’s why at Montreal Fashion Week Fashion Takes Action is hosting ReMode, a free, one day event about how to keep clothes in use through the 7Rs of Fashion (Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose, Rental, Resale, Recycle).Running from 12pm to 6pm on September 28, 2025, the event includes industry leaders discussing a range of topics relevant to anyone who buys and wears clothes; a marketplace, with a range of vendors that focus on reuse, resale, repurposing, upcycling and repair; and a clothing swap.ReMode will showcase local vendors which are championing circular fashion, including atelier b, Magasin Chaînon, Citron Pressé, High Horse Studio, and many more. Attendees can also look forward to a series of short talks designed to deepen understanding of circular fashion – what it means, why it matters, and how to get involved. Speakers from City of Montreal, Concertation Montréal, Mmode, and Growing A.R.C. will participate in sessions on themes such as Circular Fashion in Your Neighbourhood, Weaving Community Through Sharing and Repairing, and Get to Know Value Village.ReMode is designed for everyone – upcyclers, DIY enthusiasts, thrifters, climate advocates, and anyone passionate about reducing their impact on both people and the planet. It’s a celebration of progress over perfection, and a chance to meet others who care about where their clothes come from, and where they end up.The event takes place at Société des Arts Technologiques (SAT), located at 1201, Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Montreal.Registration is free, and signing up enters you in a draw to win a copy of Montreal-based author, Marie-Michèle Larivée’s Rien de neuf, un guide pour une consommation écologique, économique et engagée.Fashion Takes Action (FTA) is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to advancing sustainability, ethics, and circularity in the fashion industry. Since 2007, FTA has worked with industry, government, and consumers to drive systems change through education, awareness, and collaboration. (ICE TORONTO)
