Paolo Sorrentino Opens Up Ahead of Venice Premiere of ‘La Grazia’ Academy Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino (“The Great Beauty”) is preparing the world premiere of his latest film, “La Grazia”, competing for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival (Aug. 27–Sept. 9). The film, a love story, reunites Sorrentino with Toni Servillo, alongside Anna Ferzetti. Speaking at the Sarajevo Film Festival, where he received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award, Sorrentino reflected on his creative process: he doesn’t set objectives, letting ideas emerge organically from personal obsessions. “I stay at home without doing anything, and then suddenly something comes up in my mind that becomes an obsession, and I say, ‘OK, let’s do a movie about this obsession,’” he said, adding wryly, “Probably I am going to do worse, like many directors.” The Sarajevo festival also hosted a retrospective of his films as part of its “Tribute To” program.
