SECOND JOINT REHEARSAL OF MARCH-PAST, PARADE FOR 80TH NATIONAL DAY COMMEMORATION

HÀ NỘI — The second joint rehearsal for the 80th National Day and August Revolution anniversary parade (A80 mission) was held on Sunday night at Ba Đình Square, marking the final combined-force drill before the preliminary and national-level dress rehearsals on August 27 and 30. The event was overseen by senior leaders, including Politburo member Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa and Defence Minister General Phan Văn Giang. Crowds gathered along the parade route, while security and traffic were tightly managed by army, police, and Hà Nội authorities. Nearly 16,000 officers and soldiers participated, with 43 marching formations, three foreign contingents from Laos, Cambodia, and Russia, 18 standing blocks, and 14 mechanised columns of military and police equipment. The Artillery–Missile Command’s Brigade 45 staged a gun salute of 63 blank rounds, to be replaced by live ceremonial ammunition on September 2. For the first time since 1985, large-scale military hardware, including UAVs, missile systems, tanks, artillery, and domestically produced combat vehicles, were showcased. Police formations featured specialised vehicles for security, rescue, and crowd control. The parade concluded with symbolic displays, including national flags, President Hồ Chí Minh’s portrait, and mass formations representing ethnic groups, veterans, women, youth, and overseas Vietnamese, highlighting discipline, precision, and national unity.
