SOUTHEAST REGION GEARS UP FOR TOURISM LEAP
The southeast region of Việt Nam, led by HCM City, is positioning itself for transformative tourism growth as administrative boundaries shift and economic momentum accelerates. Authorities are leveraging natural, cultural, and urban resources to build a sustainable and interconnected tourism ecosystem aligned with the national vision through 2045. New tourism offerings include MICE tourism, urban discovery tours, coastal retreats, and culinary experiences, alongside niche markets such as eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and festivals. Key destinations range from Vũng Tàu and Côn Đảo’s beaches to Cát Tiên and Bù Gia Mập national parks. HCM City alone has identified nearly 700 tourism resources and is enhancing its brand with river tourism, festivals, sports and experiential tours, and nightlife activities. In Đồng Nai, authorities are promoting biosphere reserves, lakes, national parks, and craft villages, while flagship projects like the Núi Chứa Chan eco-resort and Long Thành International Airport are expected to boost tourism significantly. Strategic investments across the region include luxury coastal corridors, cruise ports, golf resorts, and free-trade-linked tourism complexes in Cần Giờ. In the first seven months of 2025, HCM City welcomed 25 million visitors, generating US$6.1 billion in revenue. Coordinated planning and infrastructure upgrades are expected to position the southeast as a leading national tourism hub. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
