BANGKA BELITUNG TO GET INDONESIA'S LARGEST TIN SMELTER
Chinese investors, led by the experienced firm Tong Fang, will construct Indonesia’s largest tin ore smelter in Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands, with an investment estimated between 1.5 to 2 trillion rupiahs. The facility will produce tin solder and tin wire, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s push for enhanced domestic downstream processing. Governor Hidayat Arsani emphasized that the project is expected to be operational within a year and will significantly contribute to regional economic development, with 70% of its workforce drawn from local communities. To ensure a steady supply of raw materials, the provincial government will partner with PT Timah Tbk, which will act as the primary tin ore supplier. Tong Fang, active in the downstream sector since 1971, brings global expertise from operations in countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Turkey, and Mexico. The initiative is seen as a strategic move to strengthen Indonesia’s industrial base and reduce reliance on raw commodity exports, while fostering job creation and regional growth.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/375061/bangka-belitung-to-get-indonesias-largest-tin-smelter?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
