INDONESIA'S FOOTWEAR EXPORTS REACH USD3.77 BILLION, RANKING SIXTH GLOBALLY

Indonesia has emerged as the world’s sixth-largest footwear exporter, with exports reaching USD 3.77 billion, as announced by Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. The statement was made during a shipping event for Converse shoes produced by PT Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia, located in the Batang Industropolis SEZ in Central Java. The minister praised the company’s success as a testament to Indonesia’s ability to meet international standards and highlighted it as a model of effective investment in the SEZ. He also noted that the footwear sector has significantly boosted local employment, with a 35% increase in workforce since February 2025. To further support industrial growth, the government is offering incentives such as a 5% credit interest subsidy for manufacturing businesses. PT Yih Quan’s export efforts—shipping 20,000 pairs of Converse shoes to the U.S. and Australia, and serving 37 other countries—are expected to enhance Indonesia’s role in the global supply chain. The minister expressed optimism that with continued support from the Batang SEZ, Indonesia will strengthen its position as a key producer for world-class brands like Converse, which has long relied on Indonesian manufacturers for its global operations.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/374785/indonesias-footwear-exports-reach-usd377b-ranking-sixth-globally  (ICE GIACARTA)
