INDONESIA PROJECTED TO GAIN US$300 BILLION IN GDP BOOST FROM AI BY 2030
Indonesia is poised to gain the most from artificial intelligence (AI) among Southeast Asian nations, with projections estimating a potential GDP boost of up to US$300 billion by 2030. While AI adoption in Indonesia lags behind countries like Singapore and Malaysia, the nation’s large market and rising number of tech-savvy entrepreneurs are expected to accelerate growth. Some start-ups and major firms are already AI-native, founded by individuals familiar with the technology from the outset. However, most businesses are still in the early stages, highlighting the vast untapped potential of Indonesia’s digital economy. AI is expected to transform key sectors such as ride-hailing, e-commerce, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), enhancing customer experience and expanding market reach. Sudimin Mina, Director of PT Intikom Berlian Mustika, emphasized that AI integration could significantly benefit SMEs and reshape the workforce. While routine jobs may decline, new roles in data science, cybersecurity, and decision-making will emerge. He stressed that AI should be viewed as a tool for productivity, noting, “It’s not AI that replaces people, but people who use AI will replace those who don’t.”Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/5031/markets-and-finance/indonesia-projected-to-gain-us-300-billion-in-gdp-boost-from-ai-by-2030 (ICE GIACARTA)
