The Attica Region is to acquire 59 new firefighting vehicles under the climate crisis and civil protection ministry programme 'Aegis', with financing from the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the European Investment Bank.The new vehicles are part of an overall strategic upgrade of the fire department with modern equipment and will include:- Four all-terrain water tankers with a capacity of 12,000 litres- Two fire water tankers with a capacity of 20,000 litres- Three fire water tankers with a capacity of 1,000 litres- Twenty-two personnel carriers- Nine vehicles for transporting equipment- Two fuel tankers- Seventeen 4X4 vehiclesAccording to the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry announcement, the new vehicles will form part of a national plan to reinforce the Greek fleet with more than 1,400 new vehicles by 2026, using funds from the European Union and the European Investment Bank.The action is being implemented as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 'Greece 2.0' using NextGenerationEU financing.
