MELLITAH SIGNS $8BN DEAL WITH HILL INTERNATIONAL FOR GAS PROJECT
Mellitah Oil & Gas has signed an $8bn consultancy agreement with global project management firm Hill International to oversee the “Structures A & E” offshore gas development.The venture will involve the delivery of two offshore drilling platforms and infrastructure to transport gas to the Mellitah complex, about 100km west of Tripoli, for processing and distribution. Production is scheduled to begin in 2026, Reuters reports.Plans also include a new carbon capture and storage facility with a targeted capacity of 750 million cubic feet per day.Hill International says it will provide a full suite of project management services, from planning and procurement support to cost control, scheduling, and risk mitigation.“This project holds tremendous national and international significance,” said Waleed Abdel Fattah, Hill’s president for the Middle East and North Africa. “Given our long history in Libya, we are honoured to participate in shaping the country’s future.”The $8bn development is a joint venture between the Libyan National Oil Corporation and Italy’s Eni to exploit two offshore gas fields.
