INDONESIA'S HEAVY EQUIPMENT PRODUCTION INCREASED 33% IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2025
Indonesia’s heavy equipment industry saw a strong rebound in the first half of 2025, with production reaching 4,460 units — a 33.65% year-on-year increase from 3,337 units in the same period of 2024, according to the Indonesian Heavy Equipment Industry Association (Hinabi). Hydraulic excavators led demand with 3,709 units, followed by bulldozers (3,885 units) and dump trucks (358 units). Hinabi Chairman Widayat Raharjo attributed the growth to rising demand in the agricultural sector, which now accounts for 40% of the market share, surpassing mining, which has dropped to just 5% due to falling coal prices. Despite a downward trend in annual production since its 2022 peak of 8,826 units, the industry remains optimistic for 2025, driven by agricultural initiatives such as food estate projects. Forestry holds the largest market share at 45%, while construction accounts for 10%. Widayat emphasized the importance of enhancing product quality to remain competitive and meet evolving market needs. Hinabi is actively seeking ways to strengthen its role in agricultural development, although challenges persist in producing reliable, high-performance equipment.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20250810/257/1900935/produksi-alat-berat-naik-33-semester-i2025-tambang-bukan-penopang (ICE GIACARTA)
