INDONESIA'S CREATIVE ECONOMY GREW SIGNIFICANTLY IN 11 YEARS
Indonesia's creative economy has experienced robust growth over the past 11 years, according to the Ministry of Creative Economy. From 2013 to 2024, employment in the sector surged by 89 percent, rising from 14 million to 26.47 million workers. The sector's added value more than doubled, reaching Rp1,532 trillion (US$93.6 billion) in 2024, while export value climbed 67 percent to US$25.1 billion. These figures underscore the creative economy’s increasing contribution to national development and global trade. To sustain and accelerate this momentum, the ministry has identified 15 provinces — including West Sumatra — as priority areas for creative economy development through 2029. Strategies include enhancing data systems, strengthening institutions, building creative infrastructure, and nurturing talent through incubation programs. The selection of these provinces was guided by indicators from Bappenas, such as GRDP, digital competitiveness, STEAM-focused universities, cultural development, and financial inclusion, reflecting a holistic approach to fostering innovation and inclusive growth.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/372317/indonesias-creative-economy-grew-significantly-in-11-years-official (ICE GIACARTA)
