INDIA OPERATIONS PERFORMANCE IN JUNE QUARTER A MIXED BAG FOR INTERNATIONAL CONSUMER COMPANIES
The June quarter and first half of CY2025 proved to be a mixed bag for India operations of leading international consumer product companies. For some international FMCG companies, India operations posted strong growth, however others flagged softer demand trends. Unseasonal rains and shorter summer also posed challenges for growth of summer-centric categories such as beverages during the June quarter.Beauty and personal care major L’Oreal S.A. said India was among its top ten growth contributors in the first half of CY2025. India reported 12 per cent growth in sales, the company added. On the half-year earnings call, Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO, L’Oreal said, “Four of the emerging markets were among the top 10 contributors to growth at group level: Mexico, Brazil, India and Thailand. The appetite for beauty has never been more dynamic. Today, over 2/3 of people around the world consider it important to look fit and attractive. That’s 6 points higher than just 3 years ago. This is a global trend whether you look at the U.S., Brazil or India, just to name a few.Beverage major Coca-Cola said that India operations posted a volume decline as business was impacted by early monsoons and geopolitical conflict during the key summer season.
